Two London clubs collide in the Championship this Friday night as Brentford take on Queens Park Rangers.
The Bees have struggled since Mark Warburton departed at the end of last season. His replacement Marinus Dijkhuizen lasted just nine matches before he was sacked.
Interim boss Lee Carsley has managed to steady the ship and Brentford have now won their last three league fixtures. That run has included two clean sheets in their away wins over Wolves and Charlton Athletic. A Brentford clean sheet bet is available at Bet 365 at 12/5.
The most popular result at Griffin Park so far this season has been a 2-1 result. We’ve seen three games end by that scoreline with the Bees winning two of those fixtures. A 2-1 Brentford win comes in at 9/1, while a 2-1 QPR victory is priced at 12/1 with various online bookmakers.
Brentford have missed the goal threat that Andre Gray afforded them last season. Midfielder Alan Judge has popped up with six goals so far, including one in their last outing against Charlton. The Dubliner is at 9/2 to score at anytime on Friday night.
John Swift scored the opening goal in that weekend triumph. If you fancy him repeating the trick against QPR then he’s available at 12/1 to open the scoring. The box-to-box Chelsea loan star does have a keen eye for a goal, he is also available at 5/1 with Coral as an anytime scorer.
Former Everton left-back Jake Bidwell has made 179 appearances for Brentord, yet the twenty two year old is still to record his first ever goal for the club. If you think it will be lucky 180 for Jake then he’s available at 18/1 to score at anytime and at 40/1 to get the games first goal!
QPR will be hoping that they can get a win over the capital rivals and that they can charge back up towards the play-off places.
Star striker Charlie Austin has revealed that he is ’70 to 80 percent confident’ that he’ll be involved in Friday nights clash. That would be a huge boost for manager Chris Ramsey and the fans who’ve missed the Englishman’s goals. At the moment he is on at 7/4 to score at anytime. But maybe it’s worth looking at the 5/1 odds on Austin scoring the final goal of the game.
New boy Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has stepped up and has done his best to fill the gap that has been left due to Austin’s injury. Jay has managed to hit the net three times in his six league appearances. He scored the opening goal against MK Dons last weekend and is available at 19/2 with 888Sport to do the same against Brentford.
Winger Matt Phillips has been in terrific form so far this season, The Scottish internationalist had been linked with a big money move away to West Bromwich Albion in the summer but a bid was never accepted. Instead of letting that get to him the twenty-four year old has went from strength to strength. You can get odds of 21/4 on him scoring at anytime on Friday. Unibet are also offering 25/1 on Phillips getting a goal from outside the box, No one should forget his 40-yard wonder goal he managed against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last term.
Obviously as it’s a derby game a penalty may be awarded. If you think that is a distinct possibility then you can gets odds of 14/5 that there will be a penalty in the match.
Both sides will come into this fixture on the back of impressive 3-0 victories. A 3-0 home win comes in at 25/1 with Bet Victor. While a 3-0 QPR triumph is valued at 45/1 on various betting sites.
A draw is on at 5/2, while a score draw of 2-2 is up at 14/1. So far this season Brentford have only drawn twice in the Championship.
If you think Brentford will make it four wins out of four then Coral are offering odds of 7/5. A correctly predicted Brentford winning at half-time and at full-time bet is 14/5.
If you think that QPR can secure a third league away win of the season then you can find odds of 40/17. A QPR win by two goals is also available at 9/1.
