It is seventeenth versus eighteenth in the Championship this Thursday night as Leeds United host Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road.

Both sides will be desperate for the three points and get themselves further away from the dreaded drop zone.

Recently hired Leeds boss Steve Evans failed to win in his first match in charge away to Bolton Wanderers last weekend but the Scotsman will be hoping for a win against Rovers as he tries to reassure the home fans he is right for the job.

Leeds Utd haven’t won in their previous five league games and have yet to win any of their home fixtures this season.

New Zealand striker Chris Wood arrived in the summer and has already produced five goals this term. Bet365 are offering odds of 6/1 on Wood breaking the deadlock on Thursday.

Italian journeyman forward Mirko Antenucci managed to get back on track with his goal against Bolton. The Tornio man is available at 11/5 to score at anytime with Paddy Power. Remember Mirko is usually the penalty kick taker for the Whites.

Club captain Sol Bamba isn’t a prolific goal scorer but he can be dangerous at set pieces and is highly priced at 20/1 to score at anytime.

The Blackburn team may be a bit deflated after they lost their big derby game against Burnley last Saturday. But they’ll be hoping that their winning run against Thursday’s opponents can continue (Blackburn defeated Leeds in both of their league encounters last season).

The game between the two sides at Elland Road in April ended with Blackburn thumping the home side by three goals to nil. If you correctly suggest the same scoreline this time around then you could get odds of 40/1.

Scots striker Jordan Rhodes can be a real goal machine at this level. The twenty-five year old has seven goals in his last eleven Championship starts. He also managed to score three times against Leeds Utd last term. He’s priced at 5/1 with various betting sites to score the games opening goal, Sky Bet are offering as high as 80/1 on him grabbing a hat trick, while they are offering him at 11/1 to score two or more.

Very few other stars for Rovers seem to be getting on the score-sheet this year but lookout for Craig Conway. The winger is always threatening in the opposition half and there are odds of 17/2 for him to get a goal at anytime.

Keeping on the Scottish theme with Blackburn Rovers, towering centre-back Grant Hanley is available at 33/1 to score first. Remember he managed a goal against Cardiff City already this season.

No team in the Championship has managed more than Leeds’ seven draws so far this year. Blackburn have seen six games end in a draw too. So a draw could be inevitable at odds of 12/5. Both teams are averaging just under a goal a game; maybe look at a 1-1 scoreline at 13/2. United’s last two games both ended 1-1.

If you fancy Steve Evans to get off to a perfect start at Elland Road then they are available at 17/10 for the win with William Hill. Maybe they’ll go one better that that 1-1 draw, a Leeds 2-1 victory is priced at 21/2. While a draw half-time result followed by a Leeds triumph is up at 28/5.

Alternatively if you think Blackburn Rover will bounce back from that Burnley defeat and will once again beat Leeds United then they are on at around 9/5. A one nil away win is priced at 17/2 on various markets. There's no special offers for this event listed right now. However, it's likely that some will appear soon.
